Synergy

Okay it’s a Friday night and I’m recovering from a cold and bored as well. Here goes another post Synergy! What is it? A way to share a single keyboard and mouse between computers. It works pretty well although it has it’s flaws it sure beats fumbling around for another kb and mouse or using a vnc style app.Check it out at http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ it’s multi platform so you can use it on linux and mac as well as windows if you must.My setup is pretty simple I use synergy to connect my Gentoo box to my FC5 box. It’s highly configurable with useful options like having the mouse cursor wait until it appears on the other monitor so you don’t accidentally bounce to the other box when you move the mouse fast.Synchronized screensavers on all connected machines an easy way to be more productive if you ask me.

  • Don’t you think Linux kinda sucks?

    kthxbai.

  • We love linux, so I guess not :)

  • Your eloquent diatribe has forced me to rethink my views on linux.I’m ‘coming home to Jesus now’. Mr. Gates please let me repent by paying money to test out beta software.

  • Heh.. maybe if you could tell a byte from a nibble you’d know that Linux is just a bloaty, buggy UNIX wanna-be. If you’re gonna be all rebel-like and deviate from the norm, at least go for something like BSD. Otherwise, if you’re just after a system that is stable, isn’t still 386-based and generally… doesn’t suck? Go for a decent version of Windows (98SE or, if you need the NT-compatability, Win2k3) and maybe, if you do have any skill, customize it a bit. Windows may not be open-source but anyone who’s taken a primer in RE should be able to change that. Ah shit.. sorry.. forgot you C coders couldn’t code assembly to save your lives. Oops.

  • Guess you just made our point for us. Why use a closed source operating system, which you have to reverse engineer to fit to your liking, when you can use an open source operating system that lets you modify anything you like.

Really though, its a matter of personal opinion about which operating system you are best suited for, we are not pushing linux on anyone. We choose to use it because WE like it.
